IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Released on: January 31, 2015
Brooklyn, New York, January 31, 2015 --Brooklyn-based, independent bow tie designer, Richard Joseph, launches start-up menswear company, KING-N-ROOK (KNR). Inspired by the game of chess and his love for Brooklyn, Joseph started KNR to fill a gap in men’s fashion accessories by producing bow ties named after the streets in Brooklyn. After buying bow ties retail for the past seven years, Joseph grew tired of buying bow ties that didn't quite capture his eclectic and Brooklyn-inspired style. He taught himself to sew and set out to make his own “conversation pieces.” “The idea just took off from there,” says Joseph. “People were stopping me on the street and asking me where I bought my tie. It sparked the idea to turn my passion into a business.”
These are NOT your average bow ties. KNR produces one-of-a-kind, limited edition and every day custom, vintage and recycled fabric bow tie conversation pieces for stylish men and boys. Each bow tie is individually hand cut and sewn in the traditional manner. “We specialize in double-sided, with reverse fabric options that customers can choose themselves—essentially giving them two bow tie looks for the price of one” Joseph explains.
Chess is a reflection of life creatively engaged. Its about conquest, conflict and competition. Thus the birth of this chess-inspired fashion line, KING-N-ROOK, offers the opportunity for Kings (men) and Rooks (young men) to display their creative, inspired selves through fashion. Just as the King piece, in chess, is the centerpiece of the entire game, so is the King collection. The Rook, on the other hand, in chess, is the only piece permitted to walk in straight lines across the board. Just like the bow tie line, the intent is to help guide budding fashion trendsetters through the various ways of self-expression while maintaining a versatile and edgy look.
Growth in the menswear industry is outpacing women’s wear because men are focusing more on the importance of fashion in every day life. “Accessories are small, yet significant ways that men can change up their outfits and display their individuality,” Joseph says, “Bow ties are now the equivalent of necklaces for women, you want to change them every day.”
KNR custom bow ties are available online at www.kingnrook.com. KING-N-ROOK is also available for sale in specialty boutiques in Brooklyn. Follow @KINGNROOK on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for the latest styles and collection launch details.
