Life Is Like A Game Of Chess

"Chess teaches foresight, by having to plan ahead, vigilance...by having to keep watch over the whole chessboard...caution, by having to restrain ourselves from making hasty moves...and finally, we learn from chess the greatest maxim in life, that even when everything seems to be going badly for us we should not lose heart, but always hope for a change for the better, and steadfastly continue searching for the solutions to our problems." --Benjamin Franklin

If life were a game of chess, which piece would you be? And what lessons could you learn?

Would you be the King? Though the most important piece in the game, it is also the weakest and needs protection at all times. If your King is check-mated the game is over.

Would you be the Queen? By far the most powerful piece in the game of chess. She has unlimited movement options and therefore limitless potential.

What about the Rook?  Even though a Rook can only move in straight lines, Rooks possess physical power within the game.

Maybe a Pawn? Pawns are like ordinary men and women walking through life one step at a time. He/She are almost unaware if the divine power in the game until they reach across the board and get promoted. He/She can then choose to be whatever chess piece they want.

The Knight seems most appealing in some ways.  He can make the first move in Chess. He can also make moves that even the Queen cannot. The Knight travels through life in leaps and serves as the heart of the game.

The Bishop is an interesting piece. It is the head of the game. It walks only diagonally and  sticks to its own color.

Regardless of what piece you choose, each piece is essential to the game, and therefore, to life. It's about learning to solve problems and never given up.

The game of chess inspired the founder of KING-N-ROOK to produce bow ties that never fail to meet your mens fashion needs. Be inspired!
